Makarios III Library is part of the Cultural Center of the Foundation Archbishop Makarios III and is housed in the grounds of Agios Ioannis (St John's) Cathedral, which is near Archbishop's Palace. The mission of the library was to collect, preserve and circulate written historic and religious resources on the Hellenistic period of Cypriot history. The library aims to aid in the education of Cypriots and to deepen their national and cultural identity.

Makarios III Library currently has approximately 70,000 volumes of books, magazines, and newspapers, and is considered to have one of the most extensive scientific collections in Cyprus. Its main purpose is to help people conduct their research, which is why books and other documents may not be checked out of the library.
